What Are Our "First Principles"?
As I was browsing the headlines this afternoon, I came across an article about the Tea Party Convention on Fox News.com written by Carl Cameron. He said: “Volunteers at the Tea Party Convention intend to propose a series of broad "First Principles" which have already been generally embraced by most Tea Party chapters around the country. They include: fiscal responsibility, upholding the constitution, and national security.”
Now those are certainly honorable principles to embrace. I would think we all want to know our money is safe, our freedoms are safe, and our nation is safe from attack. Should we adopt the Tea Party principles as our first principles?
Perhaps we should consider what God says our first principles should be. Remember what God says to put first in our lives? Matt:6:33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. We’re not politically involved because we really believe that we are Ambassadors of the Kingdom of God now ready to step into the administrative offices of the government of Jesus Christ on Earth at His return. Our first principles are to prepare for that and put on the righteousness of God. This includes being fiscally responsible through our tithes and offerings; keeping our house in order financially to the best of our ability. It certainly includes upholding our Constitution which would be the Holy Bible for us. And as for national security – check out Psalm 91 for some very encouraging words about God’s protection!
God’s way of life provides the ultimate answers to all of life’s questions. It is the way to peace and harmony; to prosperity; to liberty and justice for all. The Liberal Progressives fully believe their way will lead to the fulfillment of all our hopes and dreams – the Conservative Tea Party movement on the other extreme believes only their way will work. Neither is correct. Jesus Christ said in John:14:6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. “I am the way, the truth, and the life”. We need to cherish the special blessing God has given us to know and understand His true “first principles” and live them now as we prepare to teach them to everyone in the World Tomorrow.
